On USPH, BruPili and Feminism

So another thing, even if I'm a BruPili shipper now, I will try to remain neutral in writing this journal. I know that most of the people who don't like the USPH ship keeps on pointing on 'historical inaccuracies' and that those who don't like the BruPili ship points out that the historical interaction between them is so small and had little effect on the whole country.

Now. Before everybody starts debating on the reasons I stated above, I shall raise an argument that every fan should look upon on both sides of the 'shipping war'. Whether USPH, BruPili, MexiPiri, KorPiri or whatever PH ship.

Why did you even make your Philippines (or actually, any country) OC of yours a girl?

I plead guilty that the reason my first Philippines OC is a girl is because she was made for shipping purposes. And yeah, I was a USPH fan. So what's wrong with making a female OC then?

Well, nothing really. The bad thing though is if you made that OC just so you can pair her with a male character. Now think for yourself. I know most of the people reading this journal are girls younger than me. Would you be happy to be defined by a male partner? I don't know about you guys, but I won't be.

Like I said, I'm.........older () than most of the people here and I'm proud to say I lived seventeen years of my life without having to depend on a man other than my Paps. I'm a proud NBSB (no boyfriend since birth) because I don't need a male partner to function in life.

Now back to OC making, I'm proud to have created characters that could stand alone without having to ship them. Well...yes, I ship Luzon with Brunei but admit it....he has his own personality that doesn't rely on the PhilBru ship.

. . . . okay, I'm being narcissistic. I'll get back to the point.

YOU PEOPLE WHO KEEP MAKING PIRI OC'S JUST FOR SHIPPING PURPOSES!!!! STOP IT AND READ WHAT I HAVE TO SAY!!!!

I'm disappointed because I know that you yourselves are women. Why would you want to make a character that needs a dude to survive?? Oh, and I said that I'd be neutral in this journal but I must admit, most of these Piri depictions come from the USPH side. For God's sake guys...WE ARE AWESOME! We don't go crying out for a hero to save us!! Our people are known to be one of the best when it comes to guerilla warfare. WE. ARE. BAD. ASS!!!


I know a LOT of girls have this fantasy of having a knight in shining armor, but please...try not to self-insert when making Fan arts and Fanfics. (That applies to ALL ships...okay dudes???) This is a Philippines-tan (or any other country) you are making, consider if what you make her to be offends other Filipinos. And dude! We ARE a community..if you need any help, infos, ideas, we are always here to help out. Why do you think I make such an effort to open discussion threads, research stuff and type very long comments to people? Simple. I do NOT want people to remain IGNORANT.

The Ignorance must end.
